William's Craziness!!!

May 29th William completed what he thought was a Century ride. however 113.4 miles later, we are not sure that the race was even worth it. It was called the Pony Express Century. It started in Eagle Mountain, went down the west side of Utah Lake to Elberta, a 10 mile climb up to Eureka, throughVernon, and back around through 5-mile pass to Eagle Mountain. William rode the race with a Neil, his co-worker, and one of our good friends Chris Miller. William started out the race really strong and was half way done with the race 3 hours into it. However, he decided to wait and ride with Neil due to the fact that his other option Chris was a speed demon and was long gone. This was a bad decision. There were a total of 6 stops and at each stop William's group would stop for at least 15 minutes. This had detrimental effects on William's body. About 60-70 miles into the race, William's knee started hurting. Add to this really strong head winds and cross winds. By the end of the race William was having to pedal with one leg because his knee was hurting so bad. However, he still had the determination to finish the race and 9 hours and 9 minutes later William came across the finish line. Wait.... Finish line...I didn't see a finish line...Oh, that's right because there was no finish line! Who in their right mind organizes a 113.4 mile Century ride and doesn't even have a finish line. Oh well, what an accomplishment anyway. Good Job William! Even though his total finish time was 9 hours and 9 minutes, total moving time was only 7 hours. That's awesome.

Here's William's Garmin info on the ride. He had to turn off the GPS to save the battery so it will look like he stopped after that on the map, but in the details, it is correct.
